La Rochelle- Paris – Shark Robotics is proud to announce that it has been selected as part of the France 2030 plan’s “Offer of robots and intelligent machines of excellence” call for projects, in partnership with the French aerospace and defense research center ONERA, to develop the first autonomous firefighting robot for companies.
This France 2030 initiative aims to structure and support the emergence of technological and industrial leadership in fast-growing emerging markets, while strengthening French sovereignty in the major markets of the energy and ecological transition.
This first autonomous fire safety robot is designed to protect property and human life through rapid, safe intervention. This support reinforces our ability to transform fire safety with innovative robotic solutions over the past 7 years, now incorporating more advanced artificial intelligence.
Our partnership with ONERA, the world’s leading aerospace and defense research center, will enable us to perfect the robot’s functionalities and make them more reliable, thus ensuring optimum performance. ONERA supports its partners in overcoming technological obstacles.
In this case, ONERA, one of whose 7 scientific departments specializes in information processing and systems, will contribute its expertise in robotics (autonomous navigation, decision-making autonomy, operational safety and sensor performance analysis).
Philippe Castaing, ONERA’s Director of Development and Intellectual Property, explains: “The France 2030 program places research at the heart of today’s challenges, to prepare the technologies of tomorrow. As a result, ONERA regularly finds itself at the heart of projects financed by this scheme, a recognition of which it is proud. With Shark Robotics, ONERA is fulfilling its role of transferring technology to sectors other than ASD« .
“Shark Robotics is delighted to receive the support of France 2030 for this innovative project, combining robotics and artificial intelligence for fire safety. We are also very proud to be collaborating with a laboratory of excellence such as ONERA, which will enable us to make faster progress and ensure the reliability of this new robot”, said Cyrille KABBARA, CEO and founder of Shark Robotics.
About Shark Robotics
Founded at the end of 2016 in La Rochelle, Shark Robotics is an industrial start-up specializing in terrestrial safety robots, particularly fire robots. With over 300 robots deployed in 16 countries, Shark Robotics aims to save lives and improve operational efficiency through innovative robotic solutions.
About ONERA
ONERA, a key player in aerospace research, employs around 2,000 people. Under the supervision of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, it has a budget of 294 million euros (2023), more than half of which comes from study, research and test contracts… As a government expert, ONERA prepares the defense of tomorrow, meets the aeronautical and space challenges of the future, and contributes to the competitiveness of the aerospace industry. It masters all the disciplines and technologies in the field. All the major civil and military aerospace programs in France and Europe bear part of ONERA’s DNA: Ariane, Airbus, Falcon, Rafale, missiles, helicopters, engines, radars… Internationally recognized and often awarded, its researchers train many doctoral students.
